Newspaper Composition for SSC and HSC 2023

Newspapers play an important role in our lives. We cannot imagine a single day without a newspaper at our doorstep in the morning. Newspapers give us news of day to day happenings at home and abroad. The reading of newspapers has become a part of our daily lives.

Venice in Europe was the first to bring out newspapers. England first published newspapers during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. The Sumachar Darpan was the first Bengali newspaper that was brought out by the Christian missionaries of Sreerampur. 

 

There are various kinds of newspapers, such as the daily, the weekly, the monthly, the fortnightly, and so on. We generally read the daily newspapers. The daily newspapers carry the news of the daily affairs of home and abroad. Others are known as periodicals and magazines. They contain poems, stories, articles, etc. In our country, there are a number of English and Bengali daily newspapers. They are the Daily Star, the Daily Sun, the Independent , the Dainik Inefaq , the Inquilab , the Protom Alo , the Janakantha, etc.

 

All sections of society, such as students, lawyers, politicians, traders, sportsmen, etc., always feel the necessity of newspapers. They find in the newspaper some items of information that are very useful to them. Merchants read newspapers to know the condition of the market; lovers of sports go through them to get sports news; politicians come to know the political situation of the world. Besides these, job seekers get useful information about jobs. Newspapers are the most effective advertising medium. Business people bring their products and goods to the attention of a large number of people through them. Newspapers allow the government to communicate its policies and actions to the public.Similarly, the people can bring their various grievances to the notice of the government through them. Besides these, by reading newspapers, one can widen their range of knowledge in the fields of science and literature. That is why newspapers are called the storehouse of knowledge. 

 

The first and foremost function of a newspaper is to furnish correct news and impartial views. Nevertheless, it is often ignored. As different political parties own newspapers, they provide news and express views in their own way. Speaking of newspapers, they sometimes suppress the truth and spread lies. Hence, newspapers are not always an unmixed blessing. Napoleon said. "Four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets".
